SMARTCITY × TOKYO -2024 AUTUMN MEETING-
In order to get more people interested in smart cities, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government held the “SMARTCITY x TOKYO AUTUMN MEETING” on Monday, October 28th.

This time, the event was held in a hybrid format (in-person and online), and included presentations on initiatives related to Tokyo’s businesses and a panel discussion by experts, as well as a networking session for in-person participants after the event.

Updating democracy through digital technology
- As society matures and needs become more diverse, updating democracy through digital technology is essential, and there is ample potential for this to happen.
- Adjustments tailored to the actual conditions of Japan and Tokyo In order to realize digital democracy, adjustments tailored to the actual conditions of Japan and Tokyo are necessary.
Making use of Tokyo’s diversity
- It is important to make use of the diversity brought about by Tokyo’s population size in metropolitan administration.
Tokyo residents should be able to proactively express their opinions and have them reflected
- We should aim to create an environment in which Tokyo residents can proactively express their opinions on the Tokyo government process, and for those opinions to be actively reflected and made public as information.
Efforts to lower the barriers to participation
- In order to realize the ideal situation, it is important to lower the barriers to participation by taking up familiar themes, to empower citizens from the government, and to create successful experiences in dialogue with citizens.

A networking session was held for one hour after the closing ceremony, limited to those attending the in-person venue, between speakers and attendees.
Participants actively exchanged business cards, deepening their relationships with each other and providing a valuable opportunity to build future cooperative relationships. -

In the foyer next to the main venue, a total of 10 companies exhibited, including initiatives in the Smart Tokyo pilot area and services from startups overflowing with originality and mobility.
