We actively publish data held by the government by eliciting needs from users such as civic tech groups who utilize “open data.” To further expand its utilization—notably as activities aiming to solve social issues through its use gain attention—we operate an open data community that fosters communication among users and strengthens connections between users and the city government.

Tokyo Data Platform

Under the leadership of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, this membership-based platform provides a space for the circulation of public and private sector data. It fosters the formation of a community connecting data providers and users, and supports and accelerates the creation of new data utilization cases through the aggregation of more data and people. This leverages Tokyo’s potential and creates a virtuous cycle of data utilization that contributes to improving the quality of life for Tokyo residents.

Tokyo Digital Twin Implementation Project

A digital twin is a virtual representation of physical elements—such as infrastructure like buildings and roads, economic activities, and human flows—recreated in cyberspace (a virtual space on computers and computer networks) based on data collected from sensors and other sources. By realizing and utilizing digital twins, we aim to solve various challenges and improve the quality of life for Tokyo residents.
